There are many possible solutions to the poverty in the Republic of Congo.

     One effort to solve the poverty problem in The Republic of Congo is Agricultural Subsidies.  This is when the governments of weathly countries pay the farmers of large farms to produce crops.  Agricultural subsides can be seen as good and bad.  They are ment to help the wealthy countries control what is being exported and imported.  For example, the wealthy governments could pay the farmers to not cultivate certain crops.

     One of the contributing factors to The Republic of Congo's poverty is the fact that most of the crops that are produced in the country are exported.  The way to fix this problem is to make sure that the poor people of the country get a chance to buy the crops.  Right now, the majority of the crops are being grown just for export which does not allow for the poor people to have a chance to get food. 

     Another solution is microfinance.  Poor people are borrowing microfinance organizations rather than other loan companies.  It can be argued that most of the loan is being used for consumtion instead of investment, but the loans are helping the people provide for themselves and their families so that they can have food to eat.

Q: What do you think is the biggest cause of the poverty in the Republic of Congo?
A: I think that the biggest cause is the amount of violence that goes on within the country.  There was a war that caused many other problems.  It led to sexual violece, bad health service and economic decline.  Also, it has been an on-going problem for a while now.  A peace agreement was made, but the violence has coninued. 

Q: In your opinion, what would be a good solution to this problem?
In my opinion, there should be more advertising of these problems.  Most people don't know the truth about the poverty, not only in the Republic of Congo, but also in the rest of Africa.  The people of successful countries aren't aware that this poverty is so drastic.

Q: What do you think is the worst result of this poverty?
I think that the worst result is the millions of deaths in The Republic of Congo, especially from diseases, such as AIDs.  Disease has caused millions of deaths have taken place in the Republic of Congo. 
Q: Do you find this topic interesting?
I'm not especially interested in poverty or Africa, but i am interested in solutions for worldly issues. 
Q: Do you find this topic important?
I think that this topic is extremely important.  The people of The Republic of Congo have horrible living conditions and no one should have to live how they live.

About half of the people in the Republic of Congo live below the poverty line.  There may be many causes for this poverty.
Some may blame the poverty on the low agricultural productivity.  Most of the country's people use old-fashioned, traditional means of farming.  They use improvised fertalizer, seeds, and planting materials.  These bad farming conditions end up in poor resluts when it comes time to harvest and results in bad profits for the farmers.

Another cause for the poverty may be the violence.  For over ten years, the country has been engulfed by violence.  A war in 1998-2002 resulted in extreme violence.  Many have lost lives despite a peace treaty, signed in December, 2002.

Poverty in the Republic of Congo

Like most African countries, the Republic of Congo is deeply in poverty.  The Republic of Congo is located in West Africa and is next to the Atlantic Ocean.  This country is plagued by widespread disease, violence, unemployment, and environmental issues.  These all result in poor living conditions, starvation, and death.  Since 1998, an estimated 5.4 million people have died because of conflict and humanitarion reasons.  The life expectancy rate is a low 54 years.  The Republic of Congo is a rich source of natural resources.  Thier economy is based on agriculture and oil production.  Some of thier valuable resources are petroleum, timber, uranium, zinc, copper, gold nd many more.  If this state of poverty continues, soon the violence level will increase and the world could loose an important source of natural resources.
